Among those who
participated in the round table were all of the speakers,
Toshiaki Tange - President of the Center for Gaudí
Studies, and Luis Gueilburt. Unfortunately, Japanese
architect Tokutoshi Torii was not present, although
his name was published in the Conference's definitive
program. Jan Molema was the moderator of the debate
and in its course raised such distinct topics as "Virtual
Reality vs. Models/Molds", "Can one do what is most
simple?", "What would Gaudí have done if he had had
computers at his disposal?" and "Application of gaudinists
studies in actual construction".
With respect to this last topic,
on Thursday, Mark Burry had already presented a
project on "living wall" made from a base of triangular
metal pieces and a mechanism that moves them in
coordination with the sounds of the atmosphere.
Also, with reference to the possible application
of the Gaudinist studies, Mr. and Mrs. Martlage,
of Sillicon Valley, USA, announced their intent
to develop and carry out the project of the church
of Colonia Güell outside of Barcelona. They know
it's a great task but are decided and plan to have
it finished in the next 20 years.
The closing of the Conference
made known the city of Terrassa as the host of the
VIII edition of the conferences and made way for
the inauguration of four exhibitions on Gaudí in
the University of Delft: Photographs by Joaquim
Gomis on Gaudí; "Gaudí, rationalist me perfecte
materiaalbeheershing"; Plans of Sagrada Familia;
and, a demo of Espai Gaudí and the studio/loft from
La Pedrera.
On Saturday, a facultative visit
was made to Amsterdam, offereing special recognition
to buildings by Berlage, Cuypers, and the School
of Amsterdam. And on Sunday, they visited the Van
Helle Factory in Rotterdam, built in 1925.
