A long-standing urbanization in Reus named after Gaudí and his
collaborators
Barcelona, May 24th 2004.- The Reus urbanization Gaudí-Mar has Gaudí’s
name for 25 years now, but that’s all. The area has no basic services yet, but as
the local Council has reached an agreement with the territorial services committee, it
will finally attend the demands of the neighbours to pave and illuminate the streets -
which have been dark earth roads up to now -, so the property owners will be able to build
their parcels.
The news about the urbanization project has taken the neighbours of the area by surprise,
because at the beginning of 2004 the local authorities explained them that the works were
likely to be postponed until the next legislature. The plan has to be approved now by
the Council’s Board and then finally be exposed to the public. The area is situated
in the city limits of Reus, next to the Salou highway.
The streets of the urbanization Gaudí-Mar are marked out on the map. Named after
Antoni Gaudí’s contemporaries Rubió i Bellver, Arquitecte Sugrañes,
Domènech i Muntaner, Puig i Cadafalch and others, the streets pay homage to all
those modernist architects whose constructions have taken years in being finished as well.
