Day of Doors Open in the Sagrada Family Temple

Barcelona, June 9 of 2007
The Temple had a celebration just like every other year at the Day of Open Doors. Everyone was invited to visit the temple freely that day, without an entrance fee.

The great annual celebration served to those involved in the current issue provoked by the controversial tunnel project. The tunnel is for a high-speed train named the AVE that will go underground and may harm the Temple by the shaking and vibrations. The section of the AVE that threatens the landslide of the Temple is by Majorca street.

Therefore, by inviting the people affected by this decision, they were allowed to publicly express their rejection to the tunnel. In addition to other activities, the great temple words of Gaudí and Joan Maragall that explain the history of the Sagrada Family from the beginning were heard through out the Temple on intercoms.

Are the days being numbered for The Sagrada Family due to the Tunnel of Death?

Barcelona, March 15 of 2007

The photograph shows Architect Joan Bassegoda who is responsible of the The Gaudí Chair, an organization thatsupports the group "Per un Bon traçat TGV," and Mr. Pedro Vallejo, President of the Association, along with other local component members who are all affected by the passage of the AVE, stand together to show their disapproval.

They are fighting together in hopes to gain a bigger response and stop the tunnel from being built. The Gaudí Chair is in charge of protecting Gaudi´s works, while ¨per un Bon traç at TGV¨ supports the people of the town who may lose their homes. The fear that their houses may suffer the same consequences of the vibrations from the high-speed train has caused them to join together to share their rejecting beliefs.

The four buildings added to the List are: Casa Vicens (1883-85); Gaudí’s work on the Nativity façade and Crypt of the Sagrada Familia cathedral (1884-1926); Casa Batlló(1904-06); Crypt in Colonia Güell (1898-1905).
